Company URL Inference

The company lookup API is a server-side service that takes a company website URL and returns inferred attributes: company name, industry, positioning, and competitors. It is used by the StackScan to autofill the form after the user enters a URL, reducing friction and improving data quality. The implementation may use public data, embeddings, or third-party APIs behind the edge so that API keys and logic stay server-side.

The StackScan calls this API during the "Analyzing…" step so that by the time the user reaches the context form, company name, industry, and related fields are pre-populated. The inferred industry is also used to fetch GTM insights (stacks analyzed, savings identified) for the user's segment, making the report more relevant.
